St. MATTHIAS 2-3 WILDCATS

The Wildcats nitched their first win of the season with an exciting 3-2 win over St. Matthias. Taking a 1-0 deficit into the second half, we finally broke a resilient defense thanks to a 64' minute goal from NURIA MELGAR off a fine assist by CELYNA NUNEZ. Four minutes later we went ahead 2-1 from a well placed shot by the same NUNEZ (68'). On 74' minutes PORSCE JAMES gave us the all important third gaol by breaking the offside trap to slide in her shot under the onrushing keeper. That goal proved to be the game winner because 2 minutes from time St. Matthias scored again to set up a nervy finish. We hung on and deservedly won the game. CONGRATULATIONS WILDCATS!!!

WILDCATS 2-VASQUEZ 5

The 07-08 season officially began last night with a tough loss to Vasquez HS. Our opponents jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead thanks to a coupl of sloppy goals. After calming down our nerves, we were able to ride the storm into halftime. After the break we responded with two beautiful goals from NURIA MELGAR and PORSHE JAMES. At 2-3 we had a couple of real chances to tie the game. Unfortunately our lack of fitness paved the way for conceding a couple of late goals. Nonetheless, it was an encouraging performance that bodes well for our upcoming Horizon League season.
